Just a Normal Day.... COOKING!!!!

Okay, so today was just a normal Tuesday, I got out of lab at super early and I skipped my 12:00pm Chemistry class because it's dumb and I know basically everything it is trying to teach me (and also because I'm an evil genius). So I get home and do a few things, email you, talk to a few friends, and then suddenly, A WILD URGE TO COOK APPEARS! So I consult my friend Rachel about what I should eat, and the conversation goes a little something like this:

Me:
Hey, totally random
What should I make for dinner tonight?
I want to make something
but I don't know what I want

Rachel:
What do you have in your kitchen?

Me:
Well, I'm gonna go to Meijer
So whatever I need

Rachel:
Ohhhhh
Hm ravioli sounds good! (NOTE: I didn't actually see this, but ravioli does sound good right now...)

Me:
I KNOW THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS
POSSIBILITIES!!! I SHOULD MAKE CAMPBELLS SOUP
Hmmm
I'm thinking Grilled cheese and tomato soup
Thanks a bunch
What about dessert?
I'm thinking something with peanut butter
or like chocolate chip something

Rachel:
Yumm. Chocolate brownies with peanut butter and cream cheese frosting!

Me:
Mmmmmm
What if I made like a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie cake thing?

Rachel:
Yes make those!!!!!! Omg!!

Me:
I'm off to the market!

Rachel:
Kk! Have fun

Me:
Okay :)

So then you know what? I rushed and made a list of all the things I need in order to maximize efficiency while at the magical Meijer. Grabbed my phone, keys and list and started up my trusty truck and drove the three minutes it takes to get to Meijer. I put the truck in park in a spot not too far from the entrance, but before I turned the vehicle off and went into the store, it dawns on me.... I FORGOT MY WALLET!!! AHHH!!! So I laugh at myself just a little bit and then put it in drive and took another three minutes to get home again. Run in, grab my wallet, Toby barks, run out, start up the truck again (I had to turn it off because the keys to the house are attached to the key to the truck), drive another three minutes and this time, on the way, I think to myself, "Self, I should get some gasoline for this trusty truck on the way back. Even though it's $3.53 and it was cheaper before, I'm down to a just over a quarter tank. I don't want my gas freezing on one of these cold nights." But I digress, I pull into the Meijer parking lot for the second time, and this time I park not to far from the entrance, but to the side a bit. I go inside, look at my short list. "Bread, Butter, Chocolate Chips, Peanut Butter, Milk." I grab a basket and walk briskly to the bread aisle. Grab some bread then figure that the butter and milk would be nearby. This was not the case. So I think to myself, "Self, it's no big deal, I'll get the other things first." So I do. I get the Peanut Butter and the Chocolate Chips with ease. And I even purchased the Ghirardelli Chocolate Chips!!! They were on sale two for $5 whereas the normal ones were $2.89. So I got two different kinds. Normal ones and Andes mint ones:
I feel high-class when I use classy chocolate chips in my desserts.

Nom nom. I can't wait to make some brownies with these.

Fancy! Besides, you and I have a history with Ghirardelli haha...

Continuing on, all I have left is the milk and the butter, which is no big deal because they would be in the same section. However.... As I'm looking around this Meijer, the dairy section is nowhere to be found!!! I walk toward the part of the store that I did not already venture, and lo and behold, the dairy section was past the clothes sections and near the home supplies and electronics!! What the heck??!?!? Oh well, I grabbed my unsalted butter and 2% milk, and got out of there. On my way, I saw place and bake cookies on sale.... And since I love baking I picked two up and went to check out, resisting the many urges I had to stop to pick up more things I didn't need. Got home and laid my groceries out and put them where they needed to be.

Here's what I started with:

Minus the alcohol in the corner....

USING TWO BURNERS AT ONCE EVEN THOUGH IT'S DANGEROUS :O

Multi-tasking? I think YES.

The finished product! Look at dem sammiches, all fancy-like:

Nice golden buttery-ness, if I do say so myself. Which I do.

Only badasses dip their grilled cheese sandwiches in tomato soup:

As you can see, I'm a badass.

So next, it's time for some serious baking skills, which I am on average much better at. Okay, so the recipe I used was... (I cheated a bit so I could use a box mix in order to save time). Also, I used just plain yellow cake mix instead of the lemon cake mix.

Everything is good, I add in the eggs, water, cake mix, and peanut butter and I'm looking for our mixer.... Turns out we don't have one. So I had two choices, either hire a team of ten men to stir this monster of a cake/cookie mix, or do it myself. I decided I'd save money and do it myself. After a good ten minutes of hardcore stirring, I come up with this:

Also notice the spoon handle. It hurt to stir with as well :(

I toughed it out and got it done, then I grease the bottom of the pan with a lot of grease and scoop all of the mix into the pan. I spread it all out and place it in the oven as realization hits...

Oh God.... I forgot the butter!!!!!!!

I thought about it and noticed that the mix looked fine. Also, I greased the bottom of the pan so it wouldn't stick.... What does the butter do besides add a bunch of fat to the final product? I guess I'll find out... Here's what 25 minutes in the oven did to my pan of cookie:

That looks pretty darn good.

After letting it all cool for a good 30 or so minutes, I cut out a chunk of the whole thing for myself and took a bite... OH MY GOD IT'S LIKE HEAVEN IN MY MOUTH. And I'm not generally a fan of peanut butter and chocolate combinations, but I mean, come on. Just look at it!

Yep, that's a butter-free peanut butter chocolate chip cookie bar!

And I cut out the rest and intend on enjoying them throughout the next week or two :) Mmmm :)

And they are really good with milk :)

THE END.
